PDF Scanner App: Paper Capture (“PDF Scanner”, “the app”) is made by Worth A Try LLC. This policy explains how the app handles your scans and the service data used to operate it.
Your scans stay on your device
With your permission, the app uses your iPhone’s camera through Apple’s document scanner. Finding page edges, straightening pages, arranging them and making the PDF all happen on your iPhone. We do not upload your scans or PDFs to a server, and we do not use them to train a model. The app does not read your photo library.
Scanned pages, thumbnails and PDFs are kept in the app’s own library on your iPhone. The app excludes this library from iCloud and device backups, so save important PDFs to Files: uninstalling the app removes its scans.
When you choose Save to Files or Share, the PDF goes to the destination you select. Files stored with iCloud Drive or another provider may be transferred by that provider under its own privacy policy.
You can turn camera access off at any time in iOS Settings. Without it, the app still opens its built-in sample document.
Service data
Scanning on your device does not mean the app never connects to the internet. It uses these services for purchases, reliability and usage measurement:
- Firebase Authentication: creates an anonymous account identifier without asking you for a name, email address or password. The same identifier can associate usage events, diagnostics and purchase access within our services. It is a pseudonymous identifier, not a promise that all records are unlinked.
- RevenueCat: processes purchase and entitlement information, product identifiers, transaction dates and related device or service metadata to verify access, restore purchases and provide subscription management. Apple processes payment; we do not receive your payment-card details.
- Apple Search Ads attribution: if you installed the app after tapping an Apple Search Ads ad, Apple’s AdServices framework gives the app an attribution token. The app passes it to RevenueCat, which uses it to learn which ad campaign led to the install. This does not use your device’s advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- Mixpanel: receives app interactions, onboarding and purchase-flow events, whether a scan or export succeeded, and broad page-count, file-size and timing categories. Its SDK also provides technical and connection metadata such as device and operating-system information and IP-based location. We do not send scan images, document contents or file names in analytics events.
- Firebase Crashlytics: receives crash and diagnostic reports, including stack traces, device/app information and installation identifiers. Reports may be associated with the app’s anonymous identifier. We do not include scan images, document contents or file names in crash reports.
We use this information to provide purchase access, understand where the app fails or is difficult to use, measure which campaigns bring installs, and improve reliability. The app shows no ads, does not ask for advertising tracking permission, and does not collect your contacts or precise location. We do not sell your scans or use them for advertising.
Service providers process data on our behalf under their terms and privacy policies: Firebase, RevenueCat, Mixpanel and Apple. Processing may take place outside your country.
Deletion and support
Deleting a scan in the app removes its pages and PDF from the app’s library. Settings → Delete account removes every scan and PDF stored in the app and requests deletion of the anonymous Firebase account. This does not cancel an Apple subscription or automatically erase historical purchase, analytics or diagnostic records held by service providers. Purchase records may need to be retained for accounting, fraud prevention or legal obligations.
Contact support@worthatry.co for access, correction or deletion requests concerning service data. We may need information to locate the relevant record. Do not send a private document unless you deliberately choose to share it for support. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EU/EEA. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in those groups. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied personal information.
Changes and contact
We will update this page and its date when our practices change. Questions: Worth A Try LLC, support@worthatry.co.
