Lessons, songs and progress are kept on your iPhone or iPad and are never uploaded. There is no account to create, no ads and no microphone: the app listens to your keyboard over USB or Bluetooth MIDI, or to the keys drawn on screen.
A piano is optional. Any USB or Bluetooth MIDI keyboard works, and every lesson and song can also be played on the screen keys. Bluetooth is used only to connect a wireless keyboard through Apple's own pairing sheet.
